Best. ever. cookies.

My sister in-law, Candice, makes the best oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I have no idea where the recipe came from, but they are delicious. Miguel numero uno loves oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, so I decided to try my hand at making her recipe. She neglected to tell me the recipe makes a zillion (not really, but you know what I mean) cookies, but that's okay because you can't eat just one!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 cups butter
2 cups white sugar
2 cups brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
5 cups blended old-fashioned oatmeal
24 oz. chocolate chips (I use Ghirardelli jumbo milk chocolate chips)
1-8oz. Hershey bar grated (optional - I rarely use)
3 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Mix butter, sugars, eggs, vanilla.  Mix in separate bowl the flour, salt baking powder, and baking soda.  Mix wet with dry then slowly add oats and chips and optional items. Bake for 10-13 minutes at 350 degrees, or until barely golden.
